chimera: Mock-Turtle is part of a larger series which is concerned with identity construction as well as performative objects and, again, references Alice in Wonderland. This piece, when worn, is like wearing a turtle shell. It restricts movement and, if the wearer is taller than five feet, forces the wearer to hunch over. Aside from the ritualistic feel of this worn-object, it is also a companion piece to chimera: Griffin.

chimera: Randolph is, essentially, a Venus Fly-trap. He is a very small, insubstantial sculpture, yet there’s fierceness to him and a chest-puffed pride. For me, he reflects the way that others perceive me—small and fierce. chimera: Randolph is that part of my psyche that is proud of what I’ve accomplished.
Ya know, I read this description of chimera: Randolph that I wrote I don’t know how long ago, and I think that this isn’t really correct. chimera: Randolph was an experiment in what could be done (i.e. what I could do) with a three dimensional, mixed-media piece that wasn’t in the same form as the rest of the chimera series. chimera: Randolph is based upon a Venus Fly-trap, and he is a fierce, little bugger, but I don’t really know about the rest of this description. He’s small and fierce and kinda reminds me of the fairytale, Hans My Hedgehog.
